To improve the quality and cost-efficiency of green buildings, “Shandong green buildings promotion measures” will be carried out on March 1^st, which identifies the incentives and support polices for research, establishment and operation & management of green buildings.

The meaning of green building is to save the resources, protect environment and reduce pollution during the life cycle, in order to provide a healthy, comfortable and high efficient indoor environment.  By the end of 2018, the accumulated green building areas were 330 million SQMs in Shandong.

According to the Measures, green building has been emerged into local economic and social development plans.  New residential buildings should be compliant with related national and local green building standards.  The large public buildings with government investment must be compliant with the standards no less than 2-star.  Non-green buildings will not get the final acceptance.

Shandong government will implement a series of supporting policies to promote green buildings, such as preferential policy to geothermal and solar energy application to residential buildings for space heating, cooling and water heating, and green public buildings can get peak-valley electricity price.
