Multi government departments promoted the clean heating demonstrations in winter in North China, which includes Handan, Xingtai, Zhangjiakou, Cangzhou, Yangquan, Changzhi, Jincheng, Jinzhong, Yuncheng, Linfen, lvliang, Zibo, Jining, Binzhou, dezhou, Liaocheng, Heze, Luoyang, Jiaozuo, Puyang, Xi’an and Xianyang.

 

1. he first demonstrations were in 12 cities: Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, Baoding, Langfang, Hengshui, Taiyang, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng , Hebi and Xinxiang.

2. The data show that there are total 725 million SQMs of clean heating retrofitting and 13.18 million SQMs of building energy retrofitting in 12 cities.  The average concentration of PM2.5 in the first 12 cities decreased by 33%.

3. The ratio of clean heating in rural area of some cities reached over 60%.

 

China still lacks natural gas and the natural gas dependency is increased from 38%to 43.3% in the first half year of 2018.  The demand of clean energy in rural area is increasing because of the lack of grid. 

For the clean heating demonstrations in 2018, the rural area is the key.  The local governments must improve the thermal insulation so as to save energy and reduce the cost of heating.  Meanwhile, China has a vast territory, with multi energy resources.  The local governments should make full use of their own resources to tailor-made their own clean heating roadmaps, such as natural gas, electricity, geothermal, biomass, solar energy and waste heat.

For example, in Jinan, the government released “import waste heat” policy to achieve 80 million SQMs of heating capacity by 2020. In Tangshan, waste heat from steel and power industries is used, most of which are low grade heat source.  Until now, the city has established 23 waste heat projects with 30.79 million SQMs.

In Hebi, straw heating is a clean energy.  The annual production of straw in China is about 700-800 Mt.  On one hand, straw as the heating source in winter can relief large pressure on straw firing; on the other hand, it reduced the coal consumption.
