As the data from National Energy Bureau (NEA), the renewable power generation increased by 14% to 344.2 billion kWh, accounting for 22% of the total power generation in the first quarter of 2018.  The installation capacity of renewable power generation continued to expand.  China renewable power generation installation capacity reached 666 million kWh by the end of the first quarter of 2018 and new added capacity was 15.35 million kWh, with hydropower installation capacity of 342 million kWh, wind power of 168 million kWh, PV power of 140 million kWh and biomass power of 15.75 million kWh.  The installation capacity of renewable power generation accounts for 36.9% of the total, increased by 0.3% comparing with that in the end of 2017.

In recent two years, China distributed PV accelerated to develop and has become an important part.  NEA revealed that distributed PV will add 10 million kWh in 2018. China government will further promote the policies of PV electricity price scheme and reduce its relying on the subsidy.

NEA highlighted that it is important to establish a renewable electricity quota and assessment.  The related documents were discussed last year and finished a draft this March for comments.
