In 2015, Hubei Province will increase 710,000 tons of standard coal of building energy efficiency, develop 10 million SQMs of green buildings including 3.13 million SQMs of star-labeling buildings and14.43 million SQMs of renewable energy application, and achieve 2.24 million SQMs of existing buildings retrofitting.

To continually develop green building actions and improve the related policies and incentives, the Government will release the supporting policies and measures to lead and regulate the market, and inspire the internal power force, as so to fulfill the target of urbanization and green development.

The green building standard implementation will move from voluntary to mandatory with the priority of public buildings, government buildings and affordable housing.

Since 2015, all of new residential buildings in Hubei Province must be compliant with 65% energy saving requirement in the “Energy Efficiency Design Standard for Low Energy Consumption Residential Buildings in Hubei Province”.

Meanwhile, the government emphasized to improve renewable energies application, especially solar thermal and shallow energy application in medium and large public buildings and affordable housing.
