Initially in 1990s, China air purifiers market emerged rapid development with continual increase of domestic economic power and people’s incoming level, as well as air pollution problem.  But the air purifier amount per capita in China is very low, less than tenth of that in developed countries.  The popularity in China is around 1%, which shows the great development potential.

 

In 2016, the output of China air purifier was 19.8 million units and expected to nearly 30 million units in 2018.  In the past, most of the products were exported, but now, more and more manufacturers showed their confidence to the domestic market.

 

According to the data, the comprehensive annual growth rate (CAGR) of China air purifier in 2012-2014 was 50% and slowed down after the adjustment in 2015, but the momentum is still strong with 35% CAGR in “Thirteenth Five-year Plan”, to 22.8 billion yuan of market scale in 2018.

 

In recent years, many cities in China suffered from serious air pollute problems, which also spurred the development of air purifier market.  In 2016, China air purifiers retail market was 5.7 million units and 14.19 billion yuan.  It is expected to reach 7.56 million units and 19.14 billion yuan in 2018.

 

More and more people realized the health risk from air pollutants which include not only the gas pollutants such as ammonia and methanal, but also animals’ hair and dust.

 

China released new national standard – Air cleaner in 2016, which enhance the threshold and push the healthy development of whole industry.  Now, air purifier integrated with internet of things (IoT) is also driving the development.
