August 3, 2018 – Shanxi Province released “Three-year action on blue sky protection” to accelerate the energy construction adjustment, build a clean, low carbon and high efficient energy system and effectively promote clean heating in Shanxi.

The provincial government will supply more financial support to clean heating.  The targets include:

1. By the end of October 2018, 11 cities should reach 100% clean heating;

2. By the end of October 2020, urban and rural areas should reach 100% and over 60% clean heating, respectively.

According to “2018 Air pollution prevention act”, multi clean energy heating should be applied to rural area, as air-source heat pump as priority and “coal-to-electricity” following up.  It should promote the application of geothermal, air-source heat pump and solar thermal based on local practice.

Taiyuan City identified that by the end of this October, it will finish a clean heating retrofitting project covering 100,000 families.  For the rural area, solar thermal, air-source and geothermal energy will be priorities.

Changzhi City indicated that it will promote distributed electrical heating in remote areas without heating pipe network and other available resources.  Meanwhile, it will push solar thermal heating combined with other conventional energy, so as to achieve the complex application of hot water and heating.
