Now, China green building industry modernization is speeding up and steel structure buildings with features of eco environment protection, perfect quality and cost efficient will be the melody of future new residential buildings.

Reviewing issued policies in 2016, central government released “Opinions on further strengthening urban planning and building management” and “Guideline on developing prefabricated buildings”, which identified to increase to 30% of prefabricated buildings in new buildings, and “Thirteenth Five-year Plan for steel industry” which clarified 20% steel consumption of prefabricated buildings in the total steel production by 2020.  In 2017, General Office of State Council of China released “Opinions on continuous development of healthy buildings” proposed to push building industry modernization, intelligent and prefabricated buildings, as well as standardized design and production, informative management and smart application.  Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China released “Thirteenth Five-year Plan for buildings” clarified that by 2020, the green buildings should account for 50% of new buildings, green building materials application should be 40% and prefabricated buildings should be 15% of new buildings.

“The belt and road” policy drives the infrastructure development of neighbor countries along the route and accelerates the trade and cooperation between China steel industry and neighbors.

As of regional development strategies, “Jing-jin-ji coordination” will strengthen to develop steel structure buildings instead of traditional buildings. The steel structure buildings industry is blooming in China.

According to National Bureau of Statistics, the output values of building industry increased by 7.1% to 19,356.7 billion yuan in 2016. Green building has become a trend because that the building energy consumption reached 34% of the total.  Now, there are about 20,000 certified green buildings in China and will be more with the high demands on comfort, healthy and economy.

Green buildings will face upbeat development.  Combining with the new technologies of internet, IoT, cloud computing and big data, green buildings will realize energy efficiency, water and materials saving and green house gas emission reduction, which not only improve the quality of green buildings, but also bring new business opportunities and broad development.

 

The technical standards, process systems, policies and measures in China are isolated from plan, construction, production, materials R&D, displacement and reclamation.

Now from aspects of scales, number and operating quality, there is still huge gap between green buildings and consumers’ needs on residences quality. For example in 2015, the proportion of green building labeling certified projects is less than 5% of total complete projects (including residential and public buildings) and green operating certified buildings account for about 5% of the total green buildings.

 

The number of projects certified by green building labeling were 2 559 (over 280 million SQMs), 4 071 (over 470 million SQMs) and 7 235 (over 800 million SQMs) by the end of 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively.

It is predicted that China green building labeling projects will reach 1.86 billion SQMs by the end of 2018 and 6.5 billion SQMs by end of 2022.
