China Green Tax was officially implemented on January 1^st of 2018.  Many local governments have launched their tax standards.

Which pollutants should be taxed?

Environment Protection Law clarifies that the taxed pollutants cover air pollutants, water pollutants, solid waste and noise, which means the air pollutants are SO₂, NOx, CO, CL₂ and the water pollutants are mercury, cadmium, lead, fossil oil, animal and vegetable oil and methanol, but the noise is specified to industrial noise.

How about the tax standards?

According to Green Tax Law, the tax is 1.2-12 yuan per pollution equivalent for air pollutants and 1.4-14 yuan per pollution equivalent for water pollutants.  For noise, the tax is 350 yuan per month when 1-3 dB higher than standard, but 11200 yuan per month if over 16 dB.
