To ensure the completion of 2017 targets identified in "Air Pollution Control Action" and effectively improve the environment air quality in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and surrounding areas, the winter clean heating demonstration projects will be developed in 28 cities of China, including Beijing, Tianjin, 8 cities in Hebei, 4 cities in Shanxi, 7 cities in Shandong and 7 cities in Henan.
Achieving zero coal-fired boiler
By the end of this October, the coal-fired boilers will be phased out in Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Langfang, Baoding, Jinan and Zhengzhou, which will accelerate to transfer to electrical and steamed boilers.
Coal consumption decreased
The coal consumption will be decreased in the new projects and the clean energy such as electricity and natural gas will compensate the gap, including combined heating and electricity (CHP) balance program.  The cities with over 200,000 populations will totally realize the centralized heating or clean heating.
As required, the heating systems in new residential buildings should use electricity, nature gas, geothermal and air as energy source, banning coal-fired boilers.
Gas-fired boilers push clean heating
As a kind of low carbon and high efficiency energy, natural gas can not only effectively optimize the energy consumption mix, but also benefit to control air pollution.  Gas-fired wall-mounted boilers will boost the clean heating in winter.
Taking Shandong as an example, it has launched “the Guideline on accelerating the development of natural gas” which will push the coal-to-gas projects in countryside areas and improve the heating mode of gas-fired boilers, as well as the subsidy of 4,000 yuan to each household financing by local governments.
Nowadays, with the background of air pollution control and energy reform, the popularity of natural gas will support and guarantee clean heating in suburb areas and the use of gas-fired boilers will bring those best benefits.
