Two-dimensional numerical simulation of impacts of door opening modes on airflow
Abstract:
Establishes a two-dimensional simplified model of isolation ward. Utilizes the dynamic-mesh technique to simulate the pressure changes occurring inside and outside the ward and the airflow passing through the door case while the door is opened in two modes i.e. swing (inward and outward) and sliding. The results show that the sliding opening mode has the minimum impact upon the airflow passing through the door case; inward swing-door may cause pressure in the ward to increase in the beginning with door opening, which brings about contaminated air leaking out; while outward swing-door may drive contaminated air out of the ward due to the inducing effect of door leaf motion. Concludes that the sliding opening mode is preferable and that inward swing-door is recommended when a sliding door cannot be used.
