Abstract：
European Union and its member countries issued many directives and regulations on building energy efficiency and ecologic design in recent years. Presents their background when they were worked out and their development in recent two years. EU declares that improving the energy efficiency of buildings and appliances is the guarantee to achieve its year 2020 target.
