    December 2015
Vol.45
No.8
The areas of existing buildings in China is about 51 billion SQMs with only 290 million SQMs of green buildings accounting for less than 0.6% by the end of 2014. In December issue, an article introduced the evaluation system of green retrofitting for existing buildings and proposed weighted index system which highlights the importance of planning, structure, materials, HVAC and electricity.
• Research on indexes and weight of green retrofitting for existing buildings
• Analysis on influence of energy price ratio on energy saving benefit of heat pump
•Application of high efficient centrifugal heat pump to centralized heat supply system

December issue is special for new heating technology. Upgrading traditional heating method, comprehensively improving the heating quality and adopting clean energy including solar thermal, geothermal and air are important to solve the environment problems in China, such as serious fog and haze.
• Upgrading wall mounted boilers technology
• Automatic control system for residential solar-gas boilers
• Interview Schneider: leading low carbon heating

What future lies for the Spanish F-gas tax?
In January 2014, the Spanish government put in place a tax on fluorinated greenhouse gases including hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) with global warming potential (GWP) greater than 150. Gradually imposed, the tax was meant to reach its 100% cap in 2016. However, an amendment to the 2016 General State Budget Bill recently introduced by the Spanish government and approved by the senate has changed the initial plan to increase the f-gas tax to 100% next year.
How smart building save energy?
Intelligent efficiency measures applied to just 35% of eligible commercial floor area in buildings with 50,000 or more square feet could save upwards of 50 TWh by 2030, assuming a conservative savings estimate of 20% – more than 1% of U.S. projected energy use by that year. Combined with 17 other common-sense efficiency measures, such as smart manufacturing and voltage reduction, the U.S. could save 22% of its total projected electricity use in 2030.
