Operation strategy of base chiller in ice cool storage systems

Taking a 200 000 m2 office building with internal ice melting storage system in Beijing as an example, analyses the installation mode and operation strategy of the base chiller in ice cool storage systems. The results show that considering the factors such as the installation capacity of the system, the annual energy consumption, the annual operating costs and the initial investment of the system, the full-day operation of the base chiller is better than that of the night operation only for the large office buildings in Beijing, and the series connection between the base chiller and the ice storage device is better than the parallel connection. Compared with Beijing(the peak-valley electricity price ratio is more than 3), the full-day operation of the base chiller is more economical than that of the night operation only where the peak-valley electricity price ratio is less than 3. For ice cool storage system with external ice melting, the series connection between the base chiller and ice storage device is more efficient than that of internal ice melting storage system.
