Taking Urumqi as a typical representative city in severe cold zone, based on two common platform types (safety gates and platform screen doors) and local weather parameters for typical years and days, studies the thermal environment of the underground railway station in winter under different operation stages and operating modes. The research results show that during the early stage of operation, the underground railway station temperature is lower than the specification requirement (12 ℃), and the closed operation of platform screen door with bypass wind tunnel is an optimal operation scheme by comprehensively comparing the station and interval tunnel temperatures under various working conditions and related measures should be adopted to improve the temperature of underground railway station. Although the station and interval tunnel temperatures have different growth rates during recent and forward stages compared with the early stage, when outdoor temperature is very low, the calculated temperatures of underground railway station under the different conditions are still below the standard required 12 ℃, and the closed operation of platform screen door with bypass wind tunnel is still an optimal operation scheme.
