Compares and analyses the feasibility of building thermal design zoning, ASHRAE building climate classification and climate zoning based on cluster analysis in building energy efficiency design climate zoning. According to the comparison analysis, finds that the ASHRAE building climate classification provides relatively complete indicators and process for moisture zoning, but its thermal zoning method and indicators cannot distinguish the climate difference in China’s Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Different from the other two types of methods, the cluster analysis method puts the Tibetan Plateau as a single zone, and its zoning results are clear and concise. But the types and quantities of climate indicators used for clustering and the method of determining the optimal cluster number will have a great impact on the clustering results and reduce the objectivity of the method.
