Conducts a two-month test on outdoor air purification performance of a commercial electrostatic precipitator (ESP) in Beijing winter (from September 2015 to January 2016).Mainly studies the purification efficiency of particles (0.01 to 5 μm) before and after dust accumulation, and the ozone generation under different environment parameters before and after dust accumulation, the cause for the exceeding ozone generation, and the decline of efficiency during the two-month operating of ESP. The results show that the purification efficiency of the ESP is influenced by dust accumulation on collecting plates and ambient particle concentration. The purification efficiency decreases as dust accumulates on collecting plates, and the lower the ambient particle concentration, the faster the decrease of the purification efficiency. The amount of ozone increases when the temperature of outdoor air is lower than -2 and the concentration of PM2.5 is higher than 160 μg/m3. Presents several attention points of ESP application based on the measured results.
